Wear this medal of protection as a reminder that you are protected by God’s great army of angels and saints. This Benedictine medal is a prayer for strength in time of temptation, for peace among ourselves and among nations and a petition that we may “walk in God’s way, with the gospel as our guide.”
The original Jubilee Medal of St. Benedict was first struck in 1880 to commemorate the 1,400th anniversary of St. Benedict's birth. It features a medal with the image of St. Benedict on one side and various inscriptions and symbols on the other side. These symbols include a cross, the Latin initials for the prayer "May the Holy Cross be my light" (C.S.S.M.L.), the initials for the exorcism prayer "Begone, Satan!" (V.R.S.N.S.M.V.), and the words of the exorcism formula "Drink your poison yourself" (N.D.S.M.D.).
