Martha, her sister Mary, and their brother Lazarus were dear friends of Jesus. One night, Jesus came to dinner, and Martha was overwhelmed with getting everything ready. She asked Jesus to rebuke Mary for not helping, but Jesus reminded Martha that "only one thing is necessary", to be close to Him. Martha's faith in Jesus remained strong even after Lazarus died; she said "I believe that You are the Christ."
