In Matthew 4:1-11, Jesus is tempted over and over again by the devil. In the last temptation, the devil brings Jesus to the top of a mountain and offers him power over many kingdoms in return for his worship. Jesus boldly responds, “Get away, Satan. The Lord, your God, shall you worship and him alone shall you serve. Then the devil left him.”
